The Math Problem

Mike does not know how to solve for area. The three sides of the triangle are 2,4, and 6. What formula would he use to solve for area?

You can't solve for area; it is not a triangle A=h(b) A=h(1/2)(b) A=1/2(b)(h)

It is not a triangle because the two shortest sides are 2 and 4. When added it equals 6, which is not greater than the longest side, therefore it is not a triangle.

I believe you are referencing the Triangle Inequality Theorem . Very good and clever problem!
