  • Cost of 1 kg of sugar =15,
  • FOR 1 kg the costumer wants =15 X 85/100,
  • But shopkeeper gives 960 gm,
  • For 960 gm=15 x 85/100,
  • For 1 kg =15 x 85/100 x 1000/960,
  • Let x be the effective discount,
  • Initially for 1000 gm =15,
  • x/100 x 15=15-(15 x 85/96),
  • x/100=1-85/96,
  • x=11.46 % which is approximately equal to 12%
