Part filled by A in 1 min = 1/20

Part filled by B in 1 min = 1/30 .

Part filled by (A + B) in 1 min =1/20+1/30 = 3/60 + 2/60 = 5/60 = 1/12

Since 1/12 of it is filled in one minute (and assuming linearity given the information), then it would take 12 minutes for it fill the entire tank.

t 20 + t 30 = 1 \dfrac{t}{20}+\dfrac{t}{30}=1

t = 12 m i n u t e s t=12~minutes
