If there are 5 5 men standing infront of S a m Sam , it means that there are 5 5 ladies infront of him. In the problem, it says that G = 2 L G=2L where G G = gents and L L = ladies, so

G + L = 45 G+L=45 \implies 2 L + L = 45 2L+L=45 \implies 3 L = 45 3L=45 \implies L = 15 L=15

So there are 15 15 ladies. It means that the number of ladies behind hime is 15 5 = 15-5= 10 \color{#D61F06}\boxed{\large 10}

if Female is X so,

x + 2x = 45

3x = 45

x = 15

so there are 15 Woman. 5 Woman in front of Vittoria and 10 Woman behind Vittoria

Let, Male=x & Ladies=y. so, x+y=45 and x=2y .Male=30 and Ladies=15. Vittoria is male and his position 11th . so there are 5 ladies standing in front of Vittoria. so 15-5=10 ladies are behind him.

let x be ladies and 2x be men so ~=x +2x = 45 =x =15 that is women =2x=30 that is men in front of him there are 10 people, 5 men and 5 women so , remaining .......there are 10 women behind him

ratio of men to ladies is 1:2 therefore by ratio proportion men are 30 and ladies are 15 . therefore in back of vittoria 15-5=10

The problem may seem complicated but after all it's simple. It said that,"the number of gents in the queue is DOUBLE the number of ladies" so if there is 5 gents are in front of Sam then double that is the ladies behind him.

As given, Men to woman ratio is 2:1 , So if women are x men will be 2x , so men Plus women are 3x which is 45 as given , so x is 15 , women are 15 and men are 30 , so if the man is standing in 11th of the queue so their is 10 people infront of him and if 5 of them are men so the other 5 are women and knowing that women are 15 so behind him their are 10 women :D

X=Gents + Y=Ladies = 45 Than: 2X + Y = 45, we have one solution 2(15) + (30) = 45. If Vittoria (Male) is on 11 position and have 5 gents in font of him we have: 5X + 5Y + Vittoria. So behind him we have the rest of the ladies 15X - 5X = 10X (Ladies).

Ratio of male to female is 1:2 ,so out of 45 numbers in queue there are 30 gents and 15 ladies. Since there are 5 gents before Vittoria and queue has alternate ladies and gents,being 11th in queue there are 5 ladies before him and as such 15-5 =10 ladies are behind in the queue Ans. K.K.GARG,India

To me the only catch was finding the sex of Vittoria (it is an Italian female name). the word 'him' told me that Vittoria is a male. Rest of the problem is easy.

x+2x=45 so x=15so the ladies are 15 and the gents 30.so 15-5=10ladies are before

before him, there are 10 people, 5 men so there are 5 ladies, of course. as the number of men is double that of the ladies, the total is 45, so we have: a=2b and a+b=45 -> a = 30, b= 15. The number of ladies left is 15-5= 10. solved it!

Is Vittoria a man or a woman ? If Vittoria is a woman, then until the 11th person, there are 6 woman. Which means 15-6 = 9. I think you should say vittoria is a she or a he

You are Sherlock Holmes!! You should've seen that the last word of the question is "him". That's why you should not see a book by its cover!
