If you observe carefully from the first picture we get to know that the numbers 1 , 2 , 4 1,2,4 are mutually perpendicular to each other . So, the third possible position will be as :

Hence, we are only left with the number 3 3 which will occupy the bottom position in the above shown picture . So, we can conclude that the numbers ( 4 , 3 ) (4,3) are always situated on opposite sides. Therefore, the digit present on the opposite face of 3 3 is 4 4 .

If you look carefully to a dice you will see that on each side on the opposite side there will be a number that when you add it the sum will always be seven . So 7 - 3 = 4

What if the die is different? This problem's die does follow the principle, so your reasoning is correct, but if it follows a different rule, then you would be completely wrong.

Actually, in the problem it should be given as the dice is not a standard dice!

if you look closely 6 and 2 are on opposite sides so are 5 and 1
