in a time period Boy adopted a dog aphter in another time period, Boy didnt did Boy adopt the dog or didnt adopt the dog?

Boy adopted the dog which is in the past Aphter is in the future you cant 're-adopt' plus Boy is the name of a boy

it makes sense if we use two time periods like 2018 and 2020 lets say in one time period i didn't have corona (2018) and in another time period i do (2020 i don't actually have corona) then do i have corona or not yes because in 2020 i got it but for real i actually dont have corona i m fine
