In 25 seconds, the thief climbs 4 meters. In 12 × 25 = 300 12 \times 25 = 300 seconds he will be able to climb 12 × 4 = 48 12 \times 4 = 48 metres. After another 25 25 seconds he will climb 5 5 more meters, hence reaching the top.

Total time = 300 + 25 = 325 \text{Total time } = 300 + 25 = \boxed{325}

Since he climbs 4 meters in each attempt with climbing 5 meters each attempt, but finally after reaching height of 48 meters,in last attemp he reaches top of 53 meters therefore total time will be 260 + 65 secs =325 secs. ANS
