The value of 5

Logic Level 2

If 1=3 and we know that:

2=8

3=12

what is the value of 5 in 5=x?

Note that subtraction will come handy

5=20 5=18 5=15

Here its an example that shows how to find the value of 5:

5= 1+1+1+1+1

5= 3+3+3+3+3

5=15

5= 15 + 5 (see below to understand)

5=20

  • We add 5 because as you can see from the examples with 2 & 3, instead of the values being 6 and 9 they are 8 and 12. Here is where subtraction comes handy . To find out that you have to add the number, you subtract the normal answer with the one given: 2= 1+1 2= 3+3 2= 6

  • This was the normal answer with the information given. But the information says that 2=8, and not 6. This is where you subtract: 2=12 2=6 2=12-6 2=2

  • So here you can see that you have to add the number
