The Weight of the World

Earth's mass is 5.972 × 1 0 24 k g 5.972 \times 10^{24}kg and Björn's weight on the surface of Earth is 620 N 620 N . The acceleration due to gravity on the surface of Earth is 10 m / s 2 10 m/s^{2} .

How much does the Earth weigh on Björn?

62 62 N 620 620 N 6200 6200 N 5.972 × 1 0 25 5.972 \times 10^{25} N 5.972 × 1 0 23 5.972 \times 10^{23} N 5.972 × 1 0 24 5.972 \times 10^{24} N

By Newton's Third law, the weight of the Earth on Bjorn is the same as the weight of Bjorn on the Earth. The weight should be specified in Newtons, however

Weight is mutual . Björn is being pulled down by Earth with the same force that Björn is pulling Earth with his gravity.
