The miracle age potion changes your age to the sum of your original age's digits: 45 45 becomes 9 9 , 49 49 becomes 13 13 , 50 50 becomes 5 5 , 99 99 becomes 18 18 and all integers from 0 0 to 9 9 remain unchanged.

Let the original age be 10 a + b 10a+b , where a , b a,b are respectively the tens and ones digit of the four people's ages. We wish to find the four pairs ( a , b ) (a,b) that give us 10 a + b = 4 ( a + b ) 10a+b=4(a+b) or equivalently 2 a = b 2a=b . We then get the two-digit numbers 12 , 24 , 36 , 48 12,24,36,48 , all of which happen to be divisible by 4 4 . The average of these numbers are then 30 \boxed{30}

f(45)=4+5=9
f(49)=13
f(50) =5
f(99)=18
ignoring ages 0 to 9 we have consider digits 1-18 {BCOZ f(10)=1 and f(99)=18;they form..... say maxima and minima like}
1 4=4
2
4=8
3*4=12 holds good as 1+2=3
and so on we get 12,24,36,48
ans=[12+24+26+48]/4=30
Hope as customer B said "let this problem change your lives; think the crazy way"
