Think Logically !!!!!!!!!!!!

Logic Level 2

There were two Logician in a train and were getting bored so Logician 1 gives a puzzle to the other.

Logician 1 :The sum of the age of my three sons is equal to the age of your only daughter

Logician 2 : So?

Logician 1 : And the product of the ages on my sons is equal to 36

Logician 2 : Then?

Logician 1 : What is the age of my three sons?

[After thinking for a while]

Logician 2 : Give me some more information.

Logician 1 : The eye color of my eldest son in blue

Logician 2 instantly gave the answer!

What is the ages of Logician 1's all three sons?

Information incomplete. 6,6,1 9,2,2 4,4,3

4 solutions

Ok, here's what i think of.

The second logician knew his daughters' age. So, info was complete for him. Assuming from options, his daughters age was 13(4.4.3 is not possible as its product is 48.). Now the options he has to pick from are: 6.6.1 and 9.2.2

But logician2 is confused which one to choose from

Logician 1 says his ELDEST SON(means he has only one eldest son) is blue.

in this case, 6.6.1 is ruled out since it shows that he can have twin eldest sons.

So, right answer is 9.2.2

that's what i also thought.

Is there a solution without using the choices? or in the absence of the choices, the problem cannot be answered? I'm sorry if i'm posting my question here.

Though, it is entirely possible for the man to have two six year old sons and a one year old son, while still allowing one of his sons to be the eldest. Twins are not the same age, by sheer technicality, they are born at different times, hence one being older and the other being younger.

it could be 1,3,12 or 1,4,9 or 2,3,6 or 2,2,9 the informatrion is clearly incomplete and answer is misleading

1,1,36 or 1,2,18 as well. :/ seems incomplete to me

the first logician had three sons.the product of the ages of his sons is equal to 36.he also had an eldest son.so, logically 9,2,2 would be the best answer.

second logician can give any answer among 1,3,12 or 1,4,9 or 2,3,6 as well.

Asume that you are the logician 2 and you would definately know the age of your daughter

Sid 2108 - 6 years, 10 months ago

but he didn't give any option to the fellow logician, did he?

may i know what's the connection of the question with blue eyes...if anyone can tell...

the connection is that the " eldest " daughter has blue eyes this provides us information that only one daughter has the highest age.. the blue eyes is just a mere distraction.

I only read the last clue about the eldest son, and I immediately guess that the answer is 9, 2, 2 since it's the only answer with one highest number (9).
