Each next term is the result of sum of squares of each digit of previous term $1^2+6^2=37 \\ 3^2+7^2 = 58 \\ 5^2+8^2=89 \\ 8^2+9^2=145 \\ 1^2 + 4^2 + 5^2 = 42$ so next term would be $4^2+2^2=\boxed{20}$
