Each next term is the result of sum of squares of each digit of previous term 1 2 + 6 2 = 37 3 2 + 7 2 = 58 5 2 + 8 2 = 89 8 2 + 9 2 = 145 1 2 + 4 2 + 5 2 = 42 1^2+6^2=37 \\ 3^2+7^2 = 58 \\ 5^2+8^2=89 \\ 8^2+9^2=145 \\ 1^2 + 4^2 + 5^2 = 42 so next term would be 4 2 + 2 2 = 20 4^2+2^2=\boxed{20}

I cant believe it solve in this way... Level Intermediate I think

16 37 58 89 145 42; 37=1^2+6^2; 58=3^2+7^2; Similarly for all terms; Last term x would be 4^2+2^2=20
