Three Gears.

Algebra Level 2

The diagram above shows a gear train composed of three gears:

Gear A A has 20 20 T.

Gear B B has 60 60 T.

Gear C C has 10 10 T.

If Gear A revolves at 60 revs/min in a clockwise direction, then what is the output in revolutions per minute at Gear C?

( T stands for teeth).

The number of teeth in Gear B is irrelevant, the 20 20 teeth of Gear A drives the 10 10 teeth of Gear C twice with each revolution, or 2 60 = 120 2\cdot 60=120
