You are playing a game of tic-tac-toe. You play as O while your opponent plays as X . The game plays as shown:
Where should you put your next O in order to save yourself from losing?

The question is how will you save yourself from losing.
Of course O would not win.

hey if you think it will save you then you are wrong putting a mark in corners will work but you will not able to win as it will make a tie as opponent will have no continuous 3 columns to make a win take your question back
yes ! this match will be a tie one..cause if u put 0 on upper middle side, your opponent will put X on lower middle side..if u put 0 on lower middle side then opponent will put X on upper middle side...like this,at last stage this match going to be a tie one..

There is no way of preventing this loss. Either way you will be forked even if you place an O in the middle or anywhere else for that matter.
If you put an O right-middle then X will go bottom-left and O will lose. In fact, there is no way to avoid a loss from here as long as X goes opposite corner after O's second move
I disagree. Even if you put it on one middle-side, he can still fork, can't he?

Aarush Kumbharn, here we supposed to choose the option which will give us positive outcome immediately
For example: if I put an O in the left side (center), the other player could pur an X in the top left corner. This answer is not correct because for everywere I sign, I'll be not surely saved.
The answer is correct, because no matter which side you put an O in the middle of, the X player must block if they're playing optimally.
Tic tac toe is for nerds who always say no.
O will certainly loose even if he puts marks on middle tiles. Even if O puts marks on mid tile X will put marks on opposite side corner again leading to win for X
He has to block your Os for him to put it in the corner
But if you put on middle he has to block your shot first, which means you block his, which means he blocks yours, which then means you block his, and cat's game.
Corners are the worst move. If you put your O in a corner, simply by blocking you, your opponent will have 2 options for his next move.
So avoid corners to force your opponent his next move on the central column or the central row.
The reason for not putting it on an corner is that then they put one in the opposite corner, so whatever you do you lose, because they have two winning moves.
Any one of the four sides. You force your opponent to make a defensive move. For example put O in the top middle space, opponent must mark the bottom middle space or else you will win. You then mark bottom left to block him etc.
If you play on a corner, X will just play on the opposite corner causing a fork. Thus you have to play on a side which will cause X to block you, then the game will end in a tie.
P.S. (You can't win this game as long as X plays optimally, the best you can get is a tie)
If the opponent doesn't make a mistake, you can draw the match, marking in any middle spaces. If you mark the corners, you'll lose.
Here the opponent has sure-win if he puts a X at any of the corners left. But there are two corners and only one turn to secure them so do not even approach the corners. Now leta look at the sides of O. Putting an O on any of the 4 sides allows you to win in the next turn if opponent goes on to place X in the corner. So to prevent a loss, place O at any of the sides. Not corners.

Placing a mark on a corner would make the opponent put a mark on the opposite corner, leading to a fork (which would make you lose). However, if you put a mark on the sides, you would prevent the opponent on making a fork. It doesn't matter which side would you put a mark on. So the answer is Any of the four sides .
