If there is a floor of 20 by 10 ft. And is to be covered by some tiles of 2 by 2 ft. If tiles fitted along the boundary are BLUE in colour and the 1/3 of the number of tiles left is to be fitted after blue tiles are black in colour. Finally the remaining area of the floor is filled with white remaining tiles.
Then FIND the number of white tiles?

area of the floor is 200 ft^2. area of one tile =4 ft^2 therefore numbers of tiles=200/4=50 tiles. area of the shaded region= 2 (6 2)=24 ft^2 [area of rectangle] number of tiles used= (area of rectangle)/area of one tile= 24/4 =6 tiles area of unshaded blue region =2 20 2 =80 ft^2 no of tiles used = 80/4= 20 tiles total tiles used =26 tiles number of tiles left =50-26=24 tiles now number of black tiles=24*1/3=8 tiles [given] number of white tiles =total tiles-[blue tiles+black tiles] =50-[26+8]=50-34=16 tiles
