A can do 1/30th of work in a day B can do it in 1/40th of a in a day therefore, together they will take 1 30 \frac{1}{30} + 1 40 \frac{1}{40} = 7 120 \frac{7}{120} th of work in a day. thus; they will take 120 7 \frac{120}{7} or 17.14 days to finish the work together.
