We can use the formula n ( n 1 ) 2 = 100 × 99 2 = 4950 \frac{n(n-1)}{2}=\frac{100\times99}{2}=4950

Notice this formula is derived from ( n 2 ) = n ! 2 ! ( n 2 ) ! = n ( n 1 ) 2 \binom{n}{2}=\frac{n!}{2!(n-2)!}=\frac{n(n-1)}{2}
