Tricky one !!

A monkey tries to climb a 60 ft high pole. The pole is slippery due to grease and the monkey climbs 3 ft but slips back 2 ft every minute. How much time will the monkey take to reach the top?

60 minutes 58 minutes 57 minutes 20 minutes

Each minute, the monkey moves up 3 ft and slips back 2 ft, thus covering 1 ft in a minute.

Hence, in 57 minutes, the monkey will climb 57 ft. In the next minute, i.e., the 58th minute, it will climb the remaining 3 ft, thereby reaching the top.

The correct answer is 58 min.

How can you tell that this process of climbing 3 feet and slipping two feet takes place in one minute when nothing about monkey"s speed is mentioned in the question?????The question seems incomplete to me.......
