Trigonometrical confusion!

Geometry Level 2

If α \alpha + β \beta = π 2 \large\frac{\pi}{2} and 2 2 [ c o s 2 cos^{2} α \alpha - c o s 2 cos^{2} β \beta ] = 1 1 , then find the value of α \alpha .

Assume 0 α π 2 0\leq \alpha \leq\frac\pi2 .

π 2 \frac{\pi}{2} π 6 \frac{\pi}{6} π 4 \frac{\pi}{4} π 3 \frac{\pi}{3}

How come c o s 2 α cos^{2}\alpha - s i n 2 α sin^{2}\alpha = c o s 2 α cos2\alpha ? Please explain Raj Rajput .

Actually we have not been taught this yet.

its an identity , for its proof write as cos(a+a) = cos2a (apply cos(a+b) = cosacosb - sinasinb ) you will get the result

you got to learn a new thing from here :) but i have done it without that identity too
