  • A = cos ( 4 5 ) A = \cos (45^{\circ}) to the nearest thousandth.
  • B = sin ( 4 5 ) B = \sin (45^{\circ}) to the nearest hundredth.

What is A + B A+B ?

The cosine of 45 45 degrees is 2 2 \frac{\surd2}{2} . (Draw isosceles right triangle, then use SOH CAH TOA to solve)

Also, the sine of 45 45 degrees is 2 2 \frac{\surd2}{2} . (Draw isosceles right triangle)

So, the cosine of 45 45 degrees + the sine of 45 45 degrees = 0.707 0.707 + 0.71 0.71 (rounding) = 1.417 1.417
