It's not that hard actually. If you read the number whole number by each digit you may find the logic.

  • 1 - One
  • 11 - One one (1)
  • 21 - Two ones (11)
  • 1211 - One two, one one (21)
  • 111221 - One one, one two, two ones (1211)
  • 312211 - Three ones, two twos, one one (111221)

So next one would be: One three, one one, two twos and two ones, therefore: 13112221 \boxed{13112221}

It is called the Look-and-Say sequence (invented by Conway)
