Under pressure 2!!

A cylinder has a volume of 3m^3 containing gas with 250K temperature and a pressure of 50000Pa. Another cylinder has a volume of 7.2m^3 containing gas with 400K temperature and a pressure of 20000Pa. If we connect the two cylinders by a connecting tube and not changing the temperature, what will be the pressure in the end?

3.4*10^3Pa 4.1*10^4Pa 3.2*10^4Pa 3*10^4Pa

1 solution

The pressure is given by p = p 1 V 1 T 1 + p 2 V 2 T 2 V 1 T 1 + V 2 T 2 p=\dfrac{\dfrac{p_1V_1}{T_1}+\dfrac{p_2V_2}{T_2}}{\dfrac{V_1}{T_1}+\dfrac{V_2}{T_2}} where p 1 = 50000 , V 1 = 3 , T 1 = 250 , p 2 = 20000 , V 2 = 7.2 , T 2 = 400 p_1=50000, V_1=3, T_1=250, p_2=20000, V_2=7.2, T_2=400 . So the final pressure is obtained after substitution to be equal to 32000 32000 Pa or 3.2 1 0 4 3.2*10^4 Pa
