We know that

x i x_i - x f x_f = u t ut + a t 2 2 \frac {at^2}{2} or, 24 24 = 4 a 2 \frac {4a}{2} or, 24 × 2 4 \frac {24 \times2}{4} = a a or, a a = 12 \boxed {12}

If you think of it as average speed instead of acceleration, it becomes easier. Distance 24m Time to travel 2 seconds.

So let's just devide the distance with the travel time. Distance / time = 24m / 2 sec = 12 m/s.
