Unknown dimensions

Geometry Level 3

A door of unknown dimensions is to be measured with a rod.The rod is found to be 4 feet longer than the width of the door, 2 feet longer than its height and the same length as its diagonal. What are the dimensions of the door.

Note:-Write the answer as sum of the dimensions

Let width be x, then height will be x+2 , and by Pythagoras theorem we have
=> x^2 + (x+2)^2 = (x+4)^2 => (x-6)(x+2) Hence width + height = 6+8=14 feet
