Fe-- 2 valence electrons

Co-- 2 valence electrons

Ni-- 2 valence electrons

Cu-- 1 valence electrons

Zn-- 2 valence electrons

Adding all the valence electrons, you get a total of 9!

Fe- 3d^6 4s^2 valence orbital=4s with electrons=2

Co- 3d^7 4s^2

Ni- 3d^8 4s^2

Cu- 3d^10 4s^1 VO=4s with electron=1

Zn- 3d^10 4s^2
