Just substitute the value of 'b' from 4a+b=12

b=12-4a

Now put this value in the given equation, you will get-

2a^3 +a^2 -20a +20= 0

Putting a=2, the equation is satisfied.

Now, b=12-4(2) =4

a+b= 2+4= 6
