Variance

Calculus Level 3

Consider a hypothetical planet with a large population. We measure the heights of the people on this planet and find that d P d h = \dfrac{dP}{dh} = constant, where d P dP is the small population with heights between h h and h + d h h+dh .

If heights in the population vary from 12 units to 36 units (this is just hypothetical!!), find the variance of heights of the population on this planet.

36 sq. units 40 sq. units 48 sq. units 24 sq. units
