When we take two vectors their sum lie in the range of a+b and a-b.(as cos varies from -1 to 1).

So, the maximum of 8 and 2 is 10N and the minimum is 6N.

So, the pair cannot give a resultant of 4N.

why not option 2 which states 2N and 4N because 2+4=6 and 2-4= 2

So for option 2, The maximum is 6N and minimum is 2N and 4N lies in this range. So, 2N and 4N can give a resultant of 4N.
