Assuming that we are looking for a real number A A , then A + A = A 2 ⇒ 2 A = A 2 ⇒ A ( 2 − A ) = 0 ⇒ A = 2 A+A = A^2 \Rightarrow 2A = A^2 \Rightarrow A(2-A) = 0 \Rightarrow A = 2 or A = 0 A=0 .
