The following mass spring system have the following components ( mass, spring, damper) with an external force exerting on it to make its initial velocity V=3 m/s. find the force in newton!

Data..

M=5 kg.

K=1000 N/M. "Spring stiffness"

B=59 N/M^2. "Damping coefficient"

X=0.3 Meter. "distance traveled"

T=4 sec. "Time to make distance (x)"


The answer is 486.

Solution:

M a + K x + B v =Force --> Equation of motion.

"a - acceleration & x - displacement & v - Velocity "

  • V=Vi+at ---> 1

  • V^2 = Vi^2 + 2 a*s ---> 2

By solving the two equations we get V=3.15 m/s & a=0.0375 m/s^2

Substitute in the equation of motion we get that F= 486 Newton.
