In the equation of the format x 2 + b x + c = 0 with roots x 1 and x 2
x 1 ∗ x 2 = − c
x 1 + x 2 = b
Since 15 is negative we are looking for difference. Then, 3 and 5 give 3 ∗ 5 = 1 5 and 3 − 5 = 2
( x − 3 ) ( x + 5 ) = 0
x 1 = 3 , x 2 = − 5
