Looking at the diagram, the voltmeter is actually measuring the potential difference between the mid-points of the 1 ohm resistors and the 1 and 2 resistors. We would need to calculate the ' remaining ' voltage left after passing through the 1 ohm resistor and the 2 ohm resistor. Finally, obtain the difference in potential and the answer will be 2 . (This solution assumes that the readers are aware of the concepts of Ohm's and Kirchoff's laws and application as well.)
