so you have a container that contains 1/8 of water already, after adding 10 cups of water, the container is 3/4 full. Its kind of hard to explain, but
basically, you want to find X amount of cups of total water
so you have (1/8) times X (variable representing amount of cups of water) = 3/4 (final amount in the container) solve for x
x = 3/4 * 8 = 24/4 = 6 adding 6 and the 10 cups of water, you get 16
