Wait... where's the H?

Chemistry Level 2

Find the pH of a 0.1 M 0.1 \text{ M} solution of sodium acetate, to the nearest hundredth.

Details and Assumptions:

  • For acetic acid, K a = 1.77 × 1 0 5 K_a = 1.77 \times 10^{-5}
  • For water, K w = 1 0 14 . K_w = 10^{-14}.
  • The only chemicals present in the solution are water and sodium acetate.
  • Of course, you may use a calculator at any time.

This problem is part of my chemistry set.
