Supposing we start making water. We need two atoms of hydrogen and one of oxygen for each molecule of water. This depletes the reserves of hydrogen and oxygen. After some time, the ratio of unused hydrogen and oxygen is now 1:3. How many water molecules have been made?

Suppose 2H atoms of hyrdogen used, then
100-2H : 100-H = 1:3
So, multiplying to get rid of the ratios:
300-6H = 100-H
So 5H = 200 and H = 40
Checking: unused hydrgen and oxygen are in ratio 20:60 = 1:3
