Two cm of rain has fallen on a square km of land. Assuming that 50% of the raindrops could have been collected and contained in a pool having a 100m x 10m base, by what level would the water level in the pool have increased?

Convert all units in terms of meters.
Volume of rain fell in the 1sq. km land = 1,000,000 sq. m * 0.02 m
Volume = 20,000 cubic meter of rainwater
We assume that 50% is collected and contained in the pool(pool is empty)
50% of 20,000 cubic meter is 10,000 cubic meter
Volume of pool = 100m *10m * h = 10,000 cubic meter
h = 10 m (the level of 50% rainwater that is contained.)
