comparing two pipes , Pipe 1 = 3 * pipe 2

Work ratio, pipe 1 : pipe 2 = 1 : 3

Time ratio will be, 3 : 1

when both pipes are operated together,

3 x *x / (3 x + x) = 36, x = 48 minutes

slower pipe takes 3 * x = 48 * 3 = 144 minutes to fill the tank
