whilst on holiday, a family of 2 adults and 4 children stay at a hotel for 7 days.the hotel charges R300 less per day for a child than an adult.the bill for the 7-day hotel stay is R21000. how much does the hotel charge for an adult per day?

note: the currency used is in south african rands.

Let the perday charge of hotel be x for an adult Then charge for a child is x-300 So according to ques. The eq. Becomes 7[2x+4(x-300)]=21000 2x + 4x - 1200=3000 6x=4200 X=700
