Weight of air

A living room has floor dimensions of 3.5 m and 4.2 m 3.5 \text{ m and } 4.2 \text{ m} and a height of 2.4 m. 2.4 \text{ m.} What does the air in the room weigh when the air pressure is 1.0 atm? 1.0 \text{ atm?}

The density of air is ρ = 1.21 kg/m 3 \rho = 1.21 \text{ kg/m}^{3} .
The gravitational acceleration is g = 9.8 m/s 2 . g= 9.8 \text{ m/s}^{2}.

Volume of air in room = Volume of room = 3.5 × 4.2 × 2.4 3.5 \times 4.2\times 2.4 m 3 m^{3}

Weight of air in room = m a s s × g r a v i t y mass\times gravity = v o l × ρ × g vol\times \rho\times g = 3.5 × 4.2 × 2.4 × 1.21 × 9.8 3.5 \times 4.2\times 2.4\times 1.21\times 9.8 = 418 N

v= 3.5 4.2 2.4 = 35.28 M^3 wt= v.d = 35.28*1.21 kg/M^3 =42.68 kgs 1N= 0.102 kg therefore 42.68/0.102= 418.5 N nearest answer =418 N
