1 solution

let c c = weight of 1 cat, s s = weight of 1 squirrel, and d d = weight of 1 dog

then we have the three equations,

4 c + s + 2 d = 48.6 4c+s+2d=48.6 (1)

2 c + 3 s + 3 d = 57.8 2c+3s+3d=57.8 (2)

2 c + 4 s + 3 d = 58.4 2c+4s+3d=58.4 (3)

Adding the three equations gives

8 c + 8 s + 8 d = 164.8 8c+8s+8d=164.8

Dividing both sides by 4 4 , gives

2 c + 2 s + 2 d = 41.2 k i l o g r a m s 2c+2s+2d=\boxed{41.2~kilograms}
