What drink did the customer ask for?

Logic Level 3

A customer walks into Starbucks. She says something to the cashier and pays the cashier $2.00. The cashier returns the customer some change.

A few minutes later, another man picks up a double-cream latte and starts to walk away. The customer gasps, and looks sternly at the man. The man shows her the bill, and it reads: Double-Cream Latte $1.50. The customer then shows her own bill to the man, and the man laughs and walks away. When she reads it, she is astonished. The cashier gives her a regular latte, and she takes it. The man is a known pickpocket, but he didn't necessarily pickpocket the customer (although he might have). The cashier is completely honest.

If the available drinks were a regular latte, a double-cream latte, and a hot chocolate, which drink did the customer actually order? The prices of the items may not be in proportion with their names.

(People always try to get more than what they paid for...)

The lady ordered a hot chocolate. When she came to the shop, she hadn't noticed the prices of each item. She thought that the hot chocolate, which is generally more expensive in most shops, was the best deal, as it was cheaper here than in other places. What she didn't know was that although the latte and the double-cream latte is normally cheaper than hot chocolate, it was the other way round here. When she saw that the other man had bought a double-cream latte that was more expensive, she thought that there must be something wrong with the hot chocolate 'deal'. The man laughing at her confirmed it, and so she finally decided to get a latte.

In hindsight, 2 years later, I can't figure out why I posted such a weird question... It makes me feel like I made a really stupid question that makes no sense anymore...
