What Happens to water level? - Part - II

An ice cube is floating with a piece of cork inside it. When all the ice melts, what happens to the water level?

When the ice cube was placed in water there was increase in height of the water which remains the same till the ice melts!!

But inside some coal is there...that time ice melting...the level of the water its not even to the area of ice and coal

why remain same ??? the space occupied by ice in water or volume was less than the volume of water increased due to high closenesss of particle in ice compared to water.... thus clearly water should expand ... and moreover doesn't float above water but on water and it occupies some volume ( very less) even its density is too high !!! thus looking , analysing all circumstances, water level will increase for sure.... B-)

archimedes principle says that weight of water displaced by a body is equal to its own weight when the body is put into water or some other liquid. both ice and cork will have some weight (say W which will remain to be a constant). So acc to the principle, water weighing W will be displaced(or that much water will come up initially, giving a level rise). now either if ice melts or not, level is going to remain same because W is constant.

okay my answer went wrong but i got it:) the water dis plaved to support the weight of ice(due to which byount force was acting on the block) will be the same after the ice melts because even if the ice melts, same amount of water will be displaced as there will be no change in the byount force and the cork has a density less than water and so water displaced to support it's weight(due to which byount force is acting on the cork) will be same initially as well as finally so if there would be an iron ball or something having more density than water , the water level would decrease as the iron ball would displace less water as the ice would melt and initially , to support it's heavy weight, more water would be displaced! we can prove it by equations as follows density of cork is less than water initially, (mc + mi)g=density of water x (v1 + v2) x g so mc+mi = density of water x (v1 + v2) finally, when the ice melts, the cork and ice will displace the same volumes to support their own weight in water as they have density less than water. i know i couldn't explain it very properly but i tried my best! i hope this helps!

Let's consider two cases.

Case 1: We placed the cork on top of the ice.

Case 2: We tie the cork around the ice such that it is below the water level and completely immersed inside the water with some of the ice inside the water.

Would we get the same answer for both the cases?
