What is the x co-ordinate where this line intersects the x-axis ?.

Geometry Level pending

Refer to the figure above Line AC intersects the X-Axis at (x,0). What is x ?. (Round off to two decimal places)

The answer is -1.34.

AO = AB = 5 , hence Angle OAB = OBA = 45 Degrees.

Since Angle CAB = 60 degrees, angle CAO is 15 degrees, angle ACO is 75 degrees.

Let the equation of the line AC be Y = m*X + C

Since A is a point in AC we get C = 5;

We can calculate m as tan(75) = 3.73205081

As the co-ordinate of C is (x,0) the equation of the line can be written as 0 = 3.73205081* x +5 , solving for x and rounding off to two decimals we get x = -1.34

That picture is off. It seems like the y value it the intersection with the y-axis is 0.5 and not (0,5).
