When an uncharged capacitor of same capacitance is connected in parallel , the capacitance is doubled

C p = C + C = 2 C Cp = C + C = 2C

But the charge is equally distributed between the two. Hence charge on each capacitor is half its original value.

C a p a c i t o r E n e r g y Capacitor~Energy = = U U = = 1 2 \frac{1}{2} Q 2 C \frac{Q^{2}}{C}

Substituting Q = 1 2 Q = \frac{1}{2} we get the answer as 1 4 U \frac{1}{4} U .

Hence the value of C a p a c i t a n c e E n e r g y Capacitance~Energy becomes o n e f o u r t h one-fourth its original value.
