What's your weight?

A body is suspended from a spring balance kept in a satellite. The reading of the balance is W 1 W_{1} when the satellite goes in an orbit of radius R R and is W 2 W_{2} when it goes in an orbit of radius 2 R 2R .

Click the valid outcome.

W 1 W_{1} < W 2 W_{2} W 1 W_{1} = W 2 W_{2} W 1 W_{1} > W 2 W_{2}

You will experience weightlessness as the normal contact force will be equal to zero regardless of orbit radius. Thus, W 1 W_{1} = W 2 W_{2} = 0.

Centripetal acceleration goes up by 4 for a 2 times increase in radius.The opposite is true for gravity therefore they cancel and w1=w2
