A) While happiness can be somewhat quantitatively measured, this is not an empirical result and does not compare the test to the control group.
B) Similarly the results in this problem do not compare the test to the control group, but also the test would not be easily reproducible . The sample population is too small, and has already engaged in the study. Typically reproduced studies do not use the same patients.
D) Produces results that are most coincidental . They did not control for other diets or medications, allowing for other possible explanations of what helped these patients.
While C) does achieve results that were not inline with the company's expectations, these results are the most reproducible, least coincidental, and empirical, they are the most scientific of the presented options.
