Think that there are no planets in our solar system except Earth & Jupiter. If the revolution of the Earth & Jupiter is stopped by some external force (Planets came to rest at once). Now there is no velocity component to balance Sun's gravitational force . So both planets will start falling into the sun. Which will fall first...
Hint: Jupiter weigh more than Earth, But Earth is closer to sun than Jupiter...
