Al + Dick = Jack + Tom (2)
Dick + Jack > Al + Tom
Add Al and Jack to eq.(2)
2 Al + Dick + Jack = 2 Jack + Tom + Al
Since Dick + Jack > Tom + Al, to equate the two sides, Al < Jack must be true.
Incorporating that into eq.(1) Tom> Jack > Al
Then in eq.(2) Al's is smaller than both Jack's & Tom's, so Dick's must be greater than both Jack & Tom in order to make up for Al and equate the two sides of the eq. (2). Finally, Dick> Tom> Jack> Al .
