Who's the murderer?

Logic Level 2

A rich British gentleman lived in an elaborate castle. His pride and joy were the five (nonworking, but antique) old-fashioned clocks in his office. The hands were movable and within reach, so he could "set" them to any time he wanted.

He had two permanent servants: a male butler and a female maid, both also English. And he frequently invited rich guests from around the world: on the night of the incident, the guests were three men, one from Canada, one from Portugal, and one from Brazil.

Someone had fatally stabbed the British gentleman. As his last act, he had adjusted the clocks on the wall.

From left to right, the clocks read 5:14, 7:12, 9:19, 8:13, and 1:14.

Who killed him?

The maid The butler The Portuguese guest The Canadian guest The Brazilian guest Insufficient information

Using the familiar code of A = 1, B = 2, etc., the clocks on the wall spell out ENGLISHMAN.

The maid is female, and the three male guests are foreigners. Therefore the butler did it.

I think insufficient information option should be removed

Is this a coincidence? I just subtracted the minutes from the hours for each clock so it turned out like: 9 5 10 5 13, And then I shifted the numbers into 9:51 05:13, And then I repeated the process. 42 8 4:28 24. I thought 24 meant 24 hours, meaning the murderer spent most of his life with the englishman, so I randomly selected the butler.

It's funny that a dying man could think up such elaborated message coding, even the original one is a miracle, that all of EGIHA are less than 12. What if the Portuguese man got to him first?
