Find the value of $x$ in the interval $0<x<1$ given that $x^2 = \dfrac x2$ .

$x^2=\frac{x}{2}$

$2x^2=x$

$2x^2-x=0$

$x(2x-1)=0$

$2x-1=0 \Rightarrow \boxed{x=\frac{1}{2}}$

I think you must write all possible x value and then explain why you chose that one

Just divide both sides by $x$ to get $x=\frac{1}{2}$ . Therefore the answer is $\boxed{x=0.5}$ .

This method doesn't give the other possible value (0), however, that doesn't matter because $x>0$ .
